The University of Mississippi broke ground in October of 2021 on the $175 million Jim and Thomas Duff Center for Science and Technology Innovation in Oxford. Providing student-centered learning environments for STEM programs in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computer science, the 202,000-sf facility will offer teaching labs, lecture halls, a 3D visualization suite, a tutoring center, and a soaring central atrium. Technology-enabled active learning (TEAL) classrooms will support a progressive pedagogy of experiential education, while strategically sited conference rooms and breakout areas will promote collaboration and discovery. The interdisciplinary structure will also house engineering design studios, fabrication suites, study spaces, and offices for faculty and staff. Ellenzweig is the architect, programmer, lab planner, and construction administrator for the facility, with McCarty Architects as architect of record. Yates Construction is the general contractor for project, which has an estimated construction cost of $135 million.
