A subsidiary of a UK-based silicon metal producer plans to reopen a Selma plant later this year.
Ferroglobe announced that Globe Metallurgical Inc. (GMI) has announced it plans to restart one furnace this December and a second next March. Combined, the two furnaces will have a total annual capacity of 22,000 tons of silicon metal.
According to the company, the facility would hire 100 and create 150 jobs for indirect local suppliers.
